    Hello Cui,

Yes, this kind of experiment can yield information about perceived stress and underlying stress. Simple correlation may be adequate, depending on confounding factors, intensity and duration of the stimuli etc. Other anaysis types (Anova, Manova etc) may be required. The researcher may need to account for some latency in the onset of stress. Our detections have some inherent latency (0.5-~3 seconds), and there may also be a delay in physiological onset of stress. May I know which headset you are using please?

    Hello Preston,

    Thank you for your message.

Can you please let me know if you’re building an application that leverages Basic BCI API or your app will require Raw EEG API? If you’re just using the basic BCI API, when you register Cortex App here https://www.emotiv.com/my-account/cortex-apps/, please do not tick the box “My App requires Raw EEG” otherwise it will return Invalid license key error. Please register a new app and do not tick that box, then try again. Let me know if it works.

    Thank you for your question.

Contact Quality (CQ) is an impedance measurement that indicates the quality of the electrical signal passing through the sensors and the reference. It can be one of 4 values: 0 – very bad (black), 1 – bad (red), 2 – ok (orange) and 4 – good (green). If you have black sensors, it means the electrodes are not pickup electrical signals as it is not properly adjusted or very noisy. (https://emotiv.gitbook.io/cortex-manual/setting_up_your_eeg_device/view_contact_quality_map/contact-quality-cq-vs.-eeg-quality-eq)

    Thank you for your question.

EEG Quality (EQ) has been built to give you an easy way to assess whether you are recording high-quality brain signals or not. Basically, it is a scoring system for the quality of the signal in each sensor. It is not meant to stay at 100% all the time. If you have a lot of movement (artefact) this will affect the EEG quality, when you have other wireless /bluetooth devices near the headset, this can also cause noise and affect the EEG quality.

I have also had this experience with my EPOC X headset. Try to keep still for about 10 seconds and you will see that the EEG quality score will remain good, because there not so many movements. But if you start moving your arms, like to adjust headset or type, it will drop the again. If you can have someone help with working the computer so the wearer of the headset can avoid moving. You can still do your recording despite the fluctuating EEG Quality score. You just need to account for the artefacts and noise when processing your data.

If you have other questions, please let me know.

    Hello Cui,

Thank you for your question. EmotivPRo has no feature to export the data as video or graph but you do have the playback option on your recording within EmotivPRO. You may use a third-party screen capture software like Bandicam or Screencastify to record your screen while you playback your recording.

Raw data can be exported as .edf file format which is already a line graph.

If you have other questions, please let us know.

    Hello Tara,

    Thank you for reaching EMOTIV.

May I know when the last time you used the headset? Also, I don’t see the felt pads on the electrodes (https://www.emotiv.com/setup/epoc/) to hydrate with saline solution.

If it has been awhile since you have used the headset, take pads and roll them firmly between your thumb and finger a few times to loosen up the weave. You can then soak them in the saline mixture for a few minutes before returning them to the sensor housings. After that process, they should get good data immediately. This should only be required for the first one or two uses, after that they should have loosened up. The sensors need to be fully saturated in the saline solution and when they are new, it takes a lot of solution to fully saturate them.

You can also try cleaning the electrode plates. Please follow the steps from this article – https://www.emotiv.com/knowledge-base/electrode-oxidation/

Please upgrade to the latest version of EmotivPRO as well. We have v2.7.1 available.

Please try these tips and keep us updated.

    Hello Luis,

    Thank you for your questions.

We currently do not support Raspberry Pi yet in Emotiv-BCI Node-RED Toolbox for (either running Emotiv-BCI Node-RED Toolbox locally on Raspberry Pi or remotely to Raspberry Pi). We will look into adding this in the future.

    Hello Andreas,

Thank you for getting back to us.

Here are some tips to get good contact quality with Insight Headset – https://www.emotiv.com/knowledge-base/how-to-get-good-contact-quality-with-insight/

If the AF4 sensor is still not responding, you can test the functionality of Insight headset by using the thumb-bridge test – https://www.emotiv.com/knowledge-base/what-is-the-thumb-bridge-troubleshooting-test-for-insight-headset-functionality/. If the sensor is not responsive, please email us a video showing you doing the Thumb-bridge test and show us the contact quality page as well. You can email us at support@emotiv.com.

    Hello Miickel,

Thank you for your question. May I know which software it is you are logging in please and your operating system. Kindly send an email to support team – support@emotiv.com, so we can create a ticket for you. Please email us a video of what is happening to your system when you log in.
Our software are designed to be used with our softwar only. It won’t work with external helmet/headset/device. If you would like to develop your own apps to work with our existing technology, we have Cortex API, our system development kit.
