Hi,
I have just purchased the BCI-OSC software, and I’m really disappointed with the results… I want to use it to trigger MIDI messages, and the idea was to control lights via MIDI. I can send data via muscular movements, but nothing is transmitted from the electrical activity of my brain. Here is a screencast demonstrating the results with 100% connection: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UV08022r9VF5B6W-NJVRcWZkQYoXpP3g/view?usp=sharing
As the software is non-refundable and returning the hardware comes at a huge cost, I feel really silly to have bought into this device.

If I try to execute the same objectives with ‘Muse’ it works fine (even without 100% connectivity). I was hoping to upgrade from Muse with the Epoc X!
I look forward to hearing back from someone soon.

Thank you for your post.
To control something with the brain, we suggest using Mental Commands. The Performance Metrics are not suitable for this task.
Second, the user should do some mental command training in EmotivBCI software first, and then test their skill with the 3D cube.
We have some advices in the BCI user manual for this.

April 6, 2022 at 4:21 pm #819Hi, thank you for your response.
Our intention (collaborators and I) is to create lighting effects in response to brain wave activity whilst listening to music, representing the areas of the brain that are active during musical stimuli. Therefore, mental commands are not suited for our project.
It seemed like this would be easily achievable with the Emotiv Epoc X and BCI-OSC software.I have not yet tried it with Max/MSP do you think this would not at least be possible in conjunction with Max? We were hoping we could use Epoc X to provide greater accuracy than the previously used hardware with fewer channels etc.
What is the proposed purpose of using the performance matrix over OSC?
