Best way to maintain sensors

Hi, I live in a pretty dry climate. I have several questions about sensor maintenance.

1) Is it best to always unscrew and store the T7 and reference sensors if not in use?

2) Should I periodically wet sensors if I am not using the device for days/weeks?

3) The attachable sensors have a hole in the back that seems like it could be used for applying the fluid, but the manuals do not indicate this as far as I have seen. I have not done this, but am curious if the holes are meant for that.

The hole in the back of the sensor is not for the fluid.
